Carolyn, Queen of Ladonia

Carolyn Shelby is the Executive Director of the Ladonia Foundation and the current (2nd) Queen of Ladonia. Carolyn became a citizen of Ladonia in 2000 and joined the Cabinet as the Minister of Customizations and Gary (long story). She was elected Queen in 2011 after Queen Ywonne I Jarl abdicated and left a vacant throne. She is a frequent guest and speaker at micronational meetings and international conferences like the Polination Conferences in London (2012) and Perugia (2015), and MicroCons in California (2015), Toronto (2019) and Las Vegas (2022). Some of the subjects were “Creating and Maintaining A Micronational Web Presence”, “Succession: Protecting Your Micronational Legacy” and “Raison d’etre: Building national identity around common purpose -- An examination of sovereign powers throughout history and their respective means of maintaining control of their territories and people”.

The host nations for the 2023 MicroCon are Ladonia (in the US) and Flandrensis with Ladonia (in the EU). Much like the G20, (micro)nations bid to host the next event and the winning bid is selected by a governing committee, the MicroCon Committee.
